MSC ANNOUNCES OCEANIA EXPRESS SERVICE UPGRADED WITH ADDITIONAL PORTS - 15 November 2011

With such a positive response to the upgrade to a weekly service announced last month, Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A (MSC) will further upgrade the current Oceania Express Service, via the Panama. MV Rena incident Tauranga, New Zealand

In relation to the container vessel Rena’s accident, off the coast of New Zealand, MSC Group confirms that it is neither the owner of the involved vessel nor responsible for its management or the crew on board.MSC Group was chartering the container vessel Rena from Costamare Inc. to carry containers between South East Asia and Australia-New Zealand. MSC Group is one of the largest container operators in the world and as a global leader is always committed to reducing the impact of the transportation industry on the maritime system. “MSC is following events in New Zealand very closely and shares the concern of the local community in the affected region” says Captain Michele Bordiga, Chairman, MSC Australia and New Zealand.
